In our household, when someone has a special day or has accomplished something extra special they are rewarded with dinner arriving on the red plate. There is only one and the recipient usually does not know they are getting it until their dinner arrives at the table. The red plate does not come out every week. It is much more magical because you never know when it is going to appear but it is always welcomed with smiles and applause and makes dinner that night just a bit more special. In the case of the Frog Princess, she also gets her milk in a small wine glass we have reserved just for her on red plate nights.
What kind of fun family traditions do you have?

That is so sweet! You know, you never cease to amaze me with your creative ideas. You just keep on filling up my bag of tricks for motherhood. I can't say that my husband and I have any special traditions. He kisses me every morning before he goes to work.
That sounds like a pretty good one to me!! My hubby gives me a smooch too but I'm a big sleeping lump in a dark bedroom when he heads out for the day. So my response is usually a friendly "rrmmphh" : )
That is such a sweet idea, wish I'd known about it when my son was small!
I used to write little notes on a napkin and tuck it into his lunch bag ...until he got old enough to be embarrased by it!
Have a great week!
Tag, you're it. I just gave you a fab blog award. http://joanofalltrades.blogspot.com/2009/01/timeout-tuesday-tagged-again.html
That is neat. My family is a little too little for traditions yet but I did teach my toddler how to shake her booty. At least I have my priorities straight.
Thanks for visiting my blog!! I love new blog friends. Your blog is great!! It seems like we have a lot in common. I am going to become a follower and add you to my blog list!!
What a GREAT idea!! I think I need to get me a red plate and start that tradition in my family!!
That is such a cool idea! Well done!
That is an awesome idea! And of course I love red!
That's a great idea!! I think my older one would moan every time she didn't get it, although i could use this as a lesson to teach her to be happy for others!!! Might try it and see what happens!! Thanks for sharing!

What a sweet idea!
Love this idea! You've inspired me to start this tradition for my family, except our plate isn't red. I've just blogged about it here: http://www.danyabanya.com/2012/10/the-special-plate.html, linking back to you of course :)
