I made most of my
Christmas gifts this year.
Making your own gifts is budget friendly,
planet friendly, and from the heart.
If you read my earlier Christmas gift posts,
you will remember that we
have a lot of women
in my family who sew.
These are some of the same wonderful
women that I made those
scrappy bookmarks and
I think needle books are so easy
to make and useful for the recipient.
A perfect gift for grandmas,
teachers, babysitters going off to college, etc.
This is a simple project
that you can make with your own
children, to keep or give as gifts.
Start with a few rectangles of felt,
with a contrasting color for the cover.
(We like to use recycled Eco-Felt
made from old plastic bottles!)
Fold them in half,
sew with a machine or by hand
along the "spine" of the needle book
and you're good to go!
You can decorate the cover
with felt and button flowers,
iron on patches,
felt applique....
the possibilities are endless!
I saw a really cute version of these
years ago in Family Fun Magazine --
they made felt alligator needle books!

Very pretty and your right...useful!
What a marvelous idea! And something that I could really use. I will show this to my daughter. It will give her a hint for a great gift for me this Christmas.

SO adding you to my blog list!
My girls just took up sewing and I love the needle book - it will make a great stocking stuffer!
I made some of these last winter, based on some I'd seen on a blog. Mine had a bird on the front and my mom and Godmother always get compliments on them when they pull them out the various needlearts groups they belong too. Yours will be loved by the receipients.
Adorable! I need one of these. I have been storing my needles in the *gasp* package! What I have been missing. :)
Love Val
