Recycled Crafts: Egg Carton Collection Box

The Mini-Saurus "C" and her sister
have quite a few "collections".

We have collections of:

shells,
rocks,
fossils,
coins,
teeth,
gem stones,
plastic jewels,
insects,
marbles,
hair accessories,
Barbie shoes,
Bakugans,
etc.

We've found that egg cartons
are the perfect way to sort
and save many of them.

(thrifty too -- since collecting tastes can change!)

First we painted the box...
pink (her favorite color) of course.

The we broke out
the glitter glue
to bling it out.

Let it dry and you're good to go!

Happy Collecting.

ok so being perfectly clear I'm dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to crafting, so I'm going to ask you.

My daughter collects... wait for it...dum dum wrappers. I thought it might be cool to use them to decorate an old glass bottle that we have and then she could use it as a pencil holder. My ? is, what is the best way to get something like dum dum wrappers to stick to a glass bottle?

Bethany,

Great question and it's not dumb at all!
I would use my favorite Mod Podge to decoupage dum-dum wrappers to a glass container. You could also decoupage them to the cover of a composition notebook or a hardcover spiral notebook to make a journal or scrapbook. She could even glue in her favorite wrappers in the pages like a scrapbook of dum dum wrappers : )

You could try using Elmer's white school glue diluted with a bit of water to paste them on but I don't know if they'll stick as well as they would with mod-podge because I seem to recall the wrappers have a bit of a waxy coating on them.

Would love to see what you end up doing! Send me an email, photos, or a link to a post if you do it!

Fondly,

I've been wondering what I can use our egg cartons for beyond the caterpillar crafts, this looks like such a cool project and one that will help keep the Peanut's rainbow stone collection in one place
