Snowy Day Play-Doh Table

We've been spending
a lot of time indoors.
Between various illnesses
and 28" of snow here in Virginia
over the weekend,
we've been trying to find ways
to pass the long afternoons.

Yes, that is snow
against my back windows
outside our family room.

The girls and I were inspired
by Filth Wizardry's

We didn't come up with anything
quite as elaborate as theirs...
but we did cover the kitchen table
with our
vinyl tablecloth
that we use for indoor playdoh,
moon sand,
and various messy projects...

Then we collected some rocks from our nature table,
plastic animals,
play-doh,
and
made a fresh batch of
homemade salt and flour dough!

The penguins were
keeping their eggs warm
on the snowy dough tundra.

Various critters left
tracks and footprints
in our blue lagoon.

Stay warm!

By the way...
we're supposed to get
another 16" - 20"
today/tonight - ack!

Here's our simple (no cook)
Easy Salt Dough Recipe
(from MaryAnn Kohl's MudWorks book)

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup of salt
3/4 cup of warm water
food coloring (if you want color)

Mix it all in a bowl.
Add more flour/water as needed to get
the right consistency.
Knead to soften and mix.
