Sifted Flour Stars!
First I cut out a couple of templates
with my x-acto knife/box cutter (star shaped of course)
from a couple of scrap pieces of cardboard from our recycling bin.
Psst... Pizza Boxes Work Well for this!

Then, I armed each of the girls with a spray bottle of water.
First, I asked each girl to lay down their template on the grass.
Then, they sprayed the grass with water inside the star shape (so the flour will stick.)
Then we used someWhite Flourwith my vintage Flour Sifter
on the stencils to sprinkle the front yard with a smattering of festive stars!
We also did some on the sidewalk.
to add some extra pizzazz to your driveway or sidewalk.
Happy Celebrating!
Mom's Lemon Cake she decked out with blueberries and raspberries
just like the Family Circle cover (July 4, 2009.)
"C" and her "Raggy" wish you a Happy 4th of July!

I love the stars! What a great idea. Of course, I would need a yard. :)
What a cute idea. Could use this idea for Australia day!
my kids would adore the flour stars! Great idea!
I love this, we will do it today!
Thanks for sharing!
What a clever/creative 4th of July project - love that it's fine and gross motor skills combined with art... from the sifting of flour to the sauntering down the sidewalk - FUN!
How fun!
Wow- this is sooo creative and fun! I would have loved walking by and seeing your lawn on the fourth!
so fabulous! I want to do those stars!!!!
Fantastic idea! I want to do them just for fun!
This is BRILLIANT! We've got a cookout today... better get moving so we can cover the lawn!
Oh man, I can think of tons of ways to use this idea! Flour stars, suns, triangles, lightening bolts, butterflies . . .
Really nice. We did these too, but your grass and big star looks much nicer! Thanks for the idea. Love your blog!
Love this - did it today! I am so happy when there are ideas on here that my almost-3 yr. old can do completely on her own. So fun! And best part, already had all the supplies and only took a few minutes to gather them and cut a stencil. She had a great time and then added red and white stripes with sidewalk chalk - now there are little flags all along the street. We're also working on a fairy garden. :)
i love the stars in your yard - how creative, as ever!!!
What a fantastic idea! With Fourth of July coming up this is a must! I'm totally going to pass this around to my friends. Thanks!
This is a wonderful! My husband comes home from Iraq in 2 weeks (from a year long deployment) and this is a wonderful idea to do in our yard for when he comes home!!!
I saw this on Pinterest and loved it! I did it on the 4th and I'm going to be posting some pictures (giving you credit of course). Just wanted to say thanks for the great idea!

It had never occurred to me do decorate my lawn this way! What a fun idea!!!
This is a great idea. Here in the Uk we could also use this idea for Christmas, with perhaps holly shapes or snowflakes. The only problem would be if it rains. Thanks for sharing.
The flour stars are so clever!! I featured them today!!
