When it's a yucky gray day outside, sometimes you have to make your own Rainbows indoors.
"C" and I had fun building this little
Rainbow Land
together last week while big sister was at school.
She wanted to use our Contina Bamboo blocks and our wooden stacking rainbow
to build a little "land" for some of our favorite little animal friends.
She's really into sorting, organizing,
and categorizing right now.
(I think it's a preschool thing... or not, since I still do it too!)

I love the way she kept the colors in separate areas and then matched up the animals to their colors.

I love rainbow colors, but this is just so cute! It sure would brighten anyone cold winter days :)
Your art projects look so fun. What age did you start doing art and crafts with your children. I am just 7 months pregnant right now and I am just looking into everything. I am a creative person and I wan to share that with my new child.
I look foward to seeing all the creative ideas you have!

You can expose your children to "art" as soon as you're ready. I bought board books for my kids with some of the great masters in them (Cassat, VanGogh, Matisse)
We listened to classical music and all genres of music.
We read tons of books -- I think children's book illustrations are a great way to be exposed to a variety of art media, styles, and techniques.
As far as "making art goes" once your child stops putting things in their mouth all the time you can start by drawing on big sketch paper with soy crayons, chalk on the driveway, etc.
I love finger painting with colored vanilla pudding or yogurt with babies on their high chair trays!! Fun!
I would recommend reading my post about Favorite Art supplies for Toddlers-- it has some techniques you can introduce when you're ready for it!
Honestly, this is probably a whole post that I need to write. : )
