* DIY Spring Peg Dolls

I've recently been bitten by the peg-doll-making bug!
Please stop me, it's getting out of control.

It started innocently enough when I agreed to
do a peg doll exchange...

then, it was too fun drinking my morning coffee
and painting with my (Awesome!) Yarka watercolors.

Then, I started adding little felt flower hats
and acorn tops with some Aleene's craft glue.

Then, the girls took over.

Little flower fairy friends started to appear all over the house.

On playroom windowsills.

On my grandmother's loom in the art studio.

In the art studio.

Then, one appeared in the mailbox!
This one came from We Bloom Here blog.

She has a FANTASTIC Peg Doll Tutorial HERE!

Look how sweet she is!
Like a little snowdrop.
LOVE!

You can see the other little peg dolls from the swap gallery here.

And a few of ours, jumped in the mail too,
one to California and one to Southern Australia!

Happy Peg Doll Making!

Fondly,
pink and green mama, MaryLea

I simply love your blog! It is so inspirational and the photo's are fantastic. Could you tell me what type of paints are you using for the peg dolls? Thanks!

Hi StephJ!

Yes, I totally forgot to include that in the post!
I'm using my favorite Yarka Watercolors on the wooden peg dolls. The colors are beautiful and very natural/earthy on the wood instead of acrylic craft paint. I wanted more of a "waldorfy" vibe. : )

We have become quite addicted to peg dolls around here as well. The doll exchange was so much fun, and now no one can stop. My son has pretty much created every character in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

@ Angie -- I won't tell my girls or we'll have to make a whole set of Harry Potter characters!! ; )

You've inspired me! We have some blank peg dolls and we painted a couple (my husband and I made some custom "cake toppers" for my daughter's 3rd birthday last year) with acrylic paint which was fun but I wasn't thrilled with it. The watercolor paint sounds fun and we just bought a nice set of watercolors so I am going to give this a try!

Love these little people. My daughters would go MAD for these. I am going to have to make some little fairy people...perhaps the Easter bunny might drop a few off. Amazingly simple and beautiful! Thanks.

They are so adorable! You may have inspired me to try some. They definitely made me smile and I know that my E would love them too!
