As part of our Elmer's Kids Craft Camp week,
the girls asked if we could make tie-dyed art aprons
with the Project Popperz markers Elmer's sent us.
We used the same technique that we used when we used
permanent markers to "tie-dye" hankies at my daughter's
2010 Rainbow Birthday Party.
My little cutie-patooties at work in the art studio
(I did have a fan going and an open window!)
The girls made patterns of dots with the Project Popperz markers
(we protected the table with layers of newspapers underneath)
Then, we carefully applied rubbing alcohol (with a pipette)
to the center of each design
and the desired tie-dyed effect is achieved!
This is a project best done in a well-ventilated area
or outdoors, the markers and alcohol are stinky!
One of our finished aprons!
(names blurred out to protect my kiddos)
The girls love having personalized aprons
now in the art studio for all of our (messy) crafty fun!
Comments are now closed for this giveaway.
Fondly,
pink and green mama, MaryLea

We're planning a trip to the craft store tomorrow and I know that blank aprons are on the top of the list! We'll have to make one for cooking, one for painting, one for cleaning, one for gardening... :D

love tie-dye. But, it is always such a messy process. What a great alternative! Thank you!!
Thanks for the great ideas - I check your site often for ideas for my kids to do at our centers. I have tried this but my colors fade out more than yours - I didn't know you could use the acrylics straight - I do mine watered down.

What a cool craft! Have to try this soon.
This looks like so much fun. The aprons turned out great!

Thank you--for both the great idea (loving this series), and for the chance to win :)
You have some amazing ideas thanks for sharing!
That is a fun idea! I don't usually keep rubbing alcohol, because it's crazy flammable, amongst other ills, but every now and then I do have to purchase it, so it's nice to have a project to keep in mind for the surplus.
