* Help Me Stomp Out Bullying

Bullying is an issue that is near and dear to my heart.
As a former school teacher, and current mother I've witnessed first hand
how damaging words can be. My own daughter has been a victim of "mean girls"
at her elementary school. We've had to step in and intervene with the help of the
school counselor, administrators, and teachers to put an end to it.

Did you know:
* 13 million kids will be bullied this year.
* Over 50% of the time when a bystander stands up to bullying,
the bullying stops within 5 seconds.
*In 2011, two-thirds of middle school faculty and staff reported
that they witnessed bullying frequently in their schools.
* The National Association of School Psychologists estimates that over
160,000 students miss school each day because of fear of being bullied.

It is time to put a stop bullying.
I don't normally ask things like this on my blog but,
my friends at Tanda Zap are currently running
a campaign to raise awareness about bullying
and will donate $1 to Stomp Out Bullying
for every vote received on their

Stomp Out Bullying is the leading national
anti-bullying and cyberbullying program for kids and teens.

Think about how brutal acne can be when you're a tween or teenager?
I remember days when I did not want to leave the house and face my peers
because of a giant zit on my own face.
I would have loved to have had one of these little zapper gizmos and now I do!
The Tanda Zap uses a combination of powerful blue light and sonic vibration
(with gentle warming) to clear acne bacteria, pretty cool, huh?

My friends at Tanda Zap want to thank you.
They are going to donate a free Tanda Zap to one of my readers- woot!
All you have to do is leave a comment here on my website
(click below this post on that tiny word that says "comments"- it's little, look carefully!)
This give away is open to US residents only (I apologize to my international friends)
and you must be 18 years old.
I will select a comment by random number generator and close comments
on Monday May 1st, 2012 at 9pm EST.
Please leave your email address in the comment so I can reach you!

Please note, you do not have to vote on the Tanda Zap facebook bullying page
to be entered in this giveaway

Sorry to hear about your daughter's experience with mean girls. I think it takes a lot of energy as a teacher and a parent to stay on top of bullying, but we have to to maintain a nurturing learning environment. Love your blog! Thanks!

I'm 35 and still wish for better skin. And I hate to think of my kids having to face bullies. How positively awful.

I'm a teacher too! We need to give kids the tools to communicate effectively without bullying and create a world where empathy abounds. Thanks for your blog!

Thanks for helping raise awareness! I hope my children never have to deal with bullying, but odds are, sadly, that we probably will at some point.
I could use a acne zapper right now!

I remember watching kids get bullied in school... sometimes I stood up for the kid, but mostly I would be too scared to... Hoping to raise my kids to be confident and kind enough to stand up to it. Great cause to support! jennifer.saugen@gmail.com

We talk all the time about bullying at my elementary school. I hope we can teach kids to stand up for others, because I am afraid we are going to be able to stop all bullying.

I can remember being teased in middle school about my acne and at 36 I am still battling with it. I might look into this product even if I don't win.

I have a son who was terrified to start school because he was afraid of bullies. Luckily he hasnt encountered one- but it is scary to think if he ever has to.

I know your feeling about acne. Of five brothers and sisters, I was the only one with bad acne and I was always extremely self conscious!

Thanks for raising awareness of bullying. ..I still have bad acne, but was fortunate to have great friends through high school who never mentioned it ;)

Such a great cause! I remember being late for class because I was applying extra makeup to cover my acne...I was so self conscious in high school. Thankfully I was never bullied over it, but I remember other kids who were. It's so sad.

I'm almost 32 and still deal with acne. Sucks when my kiddos point to something on my face and ask, "Mommy, what is that?" And I just say politely, "a blemish..." Anyway, I'd love to try out this product - thanks so much for such an awesome giveaway!!!

Thank you for taking a public stand on bullying. At the young age of 5 my son has been a victim of bullying. As communities we must not enable such poor social engagement among one another.
