Kid's Craft: Shoe Deodorizers and Personalized Boxer Briefs For Dad

The girls and I had some fun making a few personalized gifts for Dad this Father's Day.
These would be fun gifts to give any time of the year for Birthdays, holidays, etc.

Homemade gifts from the heart are my favorite.

Our first project "Shoe Deodorizers"
was inspired by this post  over at Roots and Wings...
but we just recycled a pair of socks instead of sewing ours from fabric!

First, we stole a clean pair of dad's socks
(we made sure we got a pair that was not stained and didn't have any holes or thin spots)

Then, there were lots of giggles as I painted each girl's foot with acrylic craft paint.

We printed one footprint for each of the girls.
I was shocked to see how long their feetare getting on daddy's size 13 socks!

Then, we filled the socks with a mixture of
clean kitty litter, baking soda, and Odor Eater's brand foot powder.

I stitched them shut on the sewing machine.
They do seem to leave a bit of a powder trail behind....
Beware of white dust clouds of baking powder or foot powder!

In hindsight, I would have used something with a finer weave like old tights or
pantyhose as an inner liner to reduce the powder output!

Our other gift was an oldie but goodie...

We made a full set of these for Daddy
two Christmases ago but they were starting to fade so we made him a new set.

Customized Boxer Briefs!

In the past we used Sharpies...but they fade with multiple washings.

This time, we're using a new combination of
Sharpies AND Fabric Markers.

Last time, "C" was too little  to participate but this time she
contributed a tiny hand print and a kitty.

Happy Crafty Gifting!

What was the best daddy gift you ever made (or received?)
